Personal Narratives
Personal Narrative = Personal Story
This trimester we improved our narrative writing skills. Techkids focused on the following writing skills:
- Writing interesting leads
- Telling a story like a movie in our minds
- Using a story arc to focus writing
- Using action verbs & precise nouns
- Using transitions to show changes in time
- Writing satisfying endings.
During each writing unit we practice a variety of strategies to help us improve our writing. The chart to the right highlights the strategies students can choose from when ending their narratives.
We discovered during our on-demand assessment Techkids need more practice focusing on small moments, so we will spend a few weeks after vacation to sharpen our narrative writing skills before moving on to informational writing.
